ToTT, Singapore

ToTT, or Tools of The Trade for the uninitiated, is a 5 month old venture by the Sia Huat group and is the largest kitchenware and tableware retail store in Asia. Housed in the Sime Darby Building along Dunearn Road (across Methodist Girls School), ToTT certainly lives up to its vision to become a one-stop culinary haven for anyone who cooks, bakes or hosts. Within their sprawling 36,000 square foot premises, apart from an extensive retail and merchandise sector, there is also a bistro, a Bake & Go counter and two cooking studios (one a 12-counter hands-on studio and the other a 64-seater demo studio) where culinary, baking and hosting classes are presented regularly by many of Singapore’s renowned chefs.

When we dropped by to check out this delightful culinary wonderland, we were squealing with delight like wide-eyed chipmunks at every turn and corner, playfully romanticizing how a Waring Pro® Belgian Waffle Maker might make our lives so much more meaningful, for instance. There was also a hands-on baking session in progress at the Bake & Go counter for 2 adorable kiddies while mommy shopped and they seemed like they were having a ball (how very fortunate!).

Right beside ToTT, is Toque, a store selling gourmet produce from jams to truffle oil and jamon iberico. We also had a great time at the Illy coffee counter testing out their very cool iperEspresso machine and ogling their über chic designer coffee cups.

Thanks to ToTT, Singapore’s culinary scene has just been elevated to the next level – definitely worth making a special visit.
