Watching Natalie Dyer paint is mesmerizing. Her immense focus, attention to detail and pure joy she exudes from creating magic out of an empty canvas is quite a treat for fans of the Queensland-based artist. Her contemporary figurative style often portrays blissful women with softly-flowing curves, indulging in joyful and playful companionship. Combined with her classic use of rich, vibrant and colourful abstracts to highlight the surrounds and landscape, Natalie’s paintings are striking and bold, yet manage to effortlessly convey a sense of elegance and light-heartedness in each of her creations. Through her work, Natalie seeks to give her viewers a little bit of “time out” to appreciate the little, but important things in life that can sometimes be overlooked.
Natalie was trained as a young student at the School of Graphic Design in Sydney. She then worked within the industry before moving on to set up her own successful art studio. Moving to sunny Queensland from Sydney some fifteen years ago, Natalie taught art classes for a number of years, but is now happiest when painting at her studio in Noosa, Australia. She typically spends around 10 hours a day painting and takes at least three days to complete a piece.
During Natalie Dyer’s recent trip to Singapore from 13-15 April, she worked on an acrylic on canvas at the Ode To Art galleries at Marina Bay Sands and Raffles City, specially themed for the local stage and one that we are all familiar with – shopping! The detail that went into the gold dress (girl on right) was quite a marvel – it was made out of hundreds of textured gold swirls which amalgamated to form a cocktail dress of such fine, superior quality and fit for a true fashionista!
Natalie’s professionalism has found her ardent fans and collectors from Australia and beyond, reaching out to art lovers from countries as diverse as America, Switzerland, England, Singapore, New Zealand, Israel and many others. She was also recently commissioned to complete 225 paintings to furnish an entire new Australian 5-star hotel.
Lovin’ life on the Sunshine Coast and painting to her heart’s content, Natalie certainly has it all, and it shows!
