Going vintage in Melbourne

One of the reasons for coming to Melbourne was to source for vintage furniture and collectibles for an upcoming project we are preparing to launch. We gathered a list of vintage shops from our friends and found more than we could ask for (if we could have our way, we would have definitely bought loads more!). Here are a couple of our favourites, and a list of other stores which you can hunt down on your next trip to find that perfect vintage piece!

This incredible store has anything and everything you could ask for, with mostly originals and a few replicas for sale. Loads of industrial tables, medicinal cabinets and racks, workmen stools and other funky funiture from back in the day. You can also find original enamel signs (from A$200) dating back to the early 1900s and a host of other gems to complete that vintage look at home or at the office!

Nook Vintage is a 15-month-old store on Johnston St. in Fitzroy and has a small but cute and quirky collection of vintage memorabilia, collectibles, homeware and clothes. Items are mainly original and one-of-a-kind pieces. Really worth a look especially if you are in the area checking out the other cool furniture stores along Johnston St…such a pity that their hanging drop lights which caught our attention were not for sale! Awww…
