Peek-ture Perfect!

A good friend recently lamented that she has fallen out of love with photography. Because we have all been spoilt rotten by digital cameras.

Unlike digital photography where shooting can be mindless, gratification instant and mistakes covered up and transformed into art, it takes a true devotee to capture on film the perfect moment. Analogue film photography is a journey, of discipline, of conviction, of timing, of patience, of skill and sometimes of luck. It’s thinking; it’s set-up. Without thought, not only do you spend the film, you lose the moment. One of the beauties of film photography is the hope, faith and anticipation of fruition while waiting for the roll of film to return. Gogorama

Gogorama.

A squiggle of a name…electrifying with the suggestion of scintillating ladies in high heels and red lips. The Gogorama art.design.illustration café shares its name with an infamous American strip-joint, but the only wanton displays of seduction are its moist desserts that warrant adultery. Fixing our Japan withdrawals at Rakuichi Dempsey

Despite being frequent visitors of the Dempsey enclave, we had never been to Rakuichi – until last week. Tucked away (too) discreetly across the road from La Forketta, Rakuichi is a gem worth seeking out if you’re in the area and craving some fantastic Japanese food.

Sitting up at the counter, we had front row view of the gorgeous fresh seafood on offer including scallops, red ark shell clams, mackerel and some seriously eye-catching kinki. Continue reading

Zenato Wine Dinner at Basilico

We recently attended the Zenato wine dinner hosted by Ponti Wine Cellars at Basilico, the Italian restaurant at The Regent Singapore famed for its Italian buffet. Zenato Winery is located in San Benedetto di Lugana, on the gentle hills surrounding the southern part of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Zenato is one of the most renowned wineries in the wine producing region of Lugana, having been credited for putting the Lugana appellation on the wine map, with their successful range of whites made from local grape variety Trebbiano di Lugana. Durians in Singapore

We were struck by a severe durian craving last night. Thankfully for us, Dempsey is only a 5 min drive away from home and right at the fringe of Holland Road is the Wan Li Xiang make-shift durian stall which has been around for the last 20 something years. Continue reading

Two delicious beers

Over the past few weeks, we have been extremely fortunate to have met with numerous ultra fun and hip distributors for beers, wines and sakes in a bid to source for a small but unique and select range of artisanal brews for our new lifestyle concept at Duxton Road, Group Therapy.

We shan’t spoil all the fun by revealing the entire range, but here are two of the beers which we are particularly thrilled about carrying! Continue reading
